Chestnut Hill Hospital, also called Mower General Hospital, opened in 1863 to provide care for soldiers wounded in the American Civil War. This hospital was located within the Philadelphia area in Chestnut Hill, Pennsylvania. This was one of the largest hospitals in the country as it was situated on 27 acres and cared for over 20,000 wounded soldiers before its closing in 1865. |
