Walter H. Fitzgerald served as a Corporal in the 114th Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry with his brother, John, during the American Civil War. Prior to the war, Walter worked as a watchcase maker. He mustered into service on August 12, 1863 at 22 years old. He was later discharged on a surgeon's certificate on March 7, 1863 due to an injury. Following the war, he married his wife Emma and lived in Philadelphia with his family. |
