Notes |
A reproduction version is located in folder 36 (1805.025.36), and original locket is located in folder 37 (1805.025.37) in the Carlton Birch Letters collection (1805.025). It is unclear if 1805.025.11 or 1805.025.37 is the original miniature. In James' Birch's letters (1805.025.13; 1805.025.15; and 1805.025.16) he mentions having his :likeness" created to send to his wife, Amanda. It is possible that this is the image to which he refers. The text around the image reads: [Remimicies?] of the Mexican War James Birch - Decd [Deceased] Qr. Mas Sergt [Quarter Master Sergeant] 1st. Pa. Vols - Col Wynkoop Buried at Castle Perote - Mexico Presented by His Brother Geo. R. Birch |
