The 6th Corps was part of the Army of the Potomac during the American Civil War. It was organized on May 18, 1862, and divided into Divisions, Brigades, and Regiments. The First Division used red insignia, the Second Division used white insignia, and the third Division used blue insignia. The 6th Corps saw extensive action in some of the most heated battles of the war, including the Seven Days Battles, Fredericksburg, Gettysburg, Wilderness, Spotsylvania, and the Appomattox Campaign. The Corps was disbanded on June 28, 1865. |
