Second Battle of Bull Run (Second Battle of Manassas) |
Details |
The Second Battle of Bull Run (as it was called by the Union), also known as the Second Battle of Manassas (as it was called by the Confederacy), was fought from August 28 to 30, 1862, just north of the city of Manassas, Virginia, during the American Civil War. It was fought between the Confederate Army of Northern Virginia, commanded by General Robert E. Lee, and the Union Army of Virginia, commanded by Major General John Pope. It was in the same area as the First Battle of Bull Run a year earlier, but was much larger in scale. Like the first battle, it was a Confederate victory. |
