The San Carlos Fortress, also known as the Fort of San Carlos, Perote, the Castle of Perote, and other similar names, was built in the 18th century in the city of Perote, Veracruz, Mexico. American forces captured the city on April 22, 1847, during the Mexican-American War, and used its strategic location to protect their communication lines in the area. |
