Gaul Family Collection |
Details |
The Gaul Family Collection includes papers, objects, photographs, and publications related to the Gaul family from the Philadelphia and Camden area. Most of the papers chronicle the Civil War service of Samuel M. Gaul and two of his sons, John and W. Frank, who all enlisted with Company G, 4th New Jersey Volunteer Regiment, on July 17, 1861. The papers also include other military and miscellaneous documents related to the Gaul family from before and after the Civil War. The 38 objects (#2012.7.01-2012.7.38) are related to veterans and other fraternal organizations, although there are some miscellaneous personal effects. The four photographs (#2012.7.39-2012.7.42) are not of members of the Gaul family, but other Civil War soldiers. The six publications (#2012.7.43-2012.7.48) include fraternal publications, a soldier's hymn book, and a pocket constitution. |
