Francis M. Wynkoop mustered into the United States Army on December 1, 1846, as a Colonel for the 1st Regiment Pennsylvania Volunteers. He survived the war and mustered out of service on August 8, 1848. Wynkoop commanded the 1st Regiment Pennsylvania Volunteers while they occupied the Castle of Perote in Veracruz, Mexico, during the Mexican-American War. |
