Turner Gustavus Morehead enlisted in the 1st Pennsylvania Regiment as a captain in November 1846 in order to fight in the Mexican-American War. During the war, he fought in the battles of Veracruz, National Bridge, Cerro Gordo, Castle Perote, Huamantia, the Siege of Puebla, and the Mexico City Campaign. Morehead also fought for the Union Army during the American Civil War, during the battles of Antietam and Fredericksburg, as well as the Peninsula Campaign. |
