Notes |
His Memorandum of Succession desginates his nephew William Waterall Lucas, born in Philadelphia on May 27, 1871, the only son of his sister Mary Ella Lucas. After the war he became a prospecter in the West. In 1875, he was based in the mountains near Central City. In June of that year he went on a hike to one of the parks with the intention of spending a couple of weeks hunting and fishing. He camped one night with some trappers. They were awakened by his moans in the morning and then found him dead of a heart attack. The trappers buried him on the spot, but per a letter from one Samuel B. Fry, he had William's body reinterred first at a location in Central City, then later moved again to Philadelphia's Laurel Hill Cemetery. |
